CMS Energy's Utility Unit Declares Quarterly Dividends on Preferred Stock

JACKSON, Mich., May 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Board of Directors of Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy , has declared regular quarterly dividends on both series of the Company's preferred stock. The following dividends are payable July 1, 2005, to shareholders of record June 8, 2005: $1.04 per share on the $4.16 stock , and $1.125 per share on the $4.50 stock .

A distribution of $0.5625 per security on the Company's 9 percent Trust Preferred Securities is payable June 30, 2005 to holders of record on June 29, 2005. The Company will pay the trustee the interest on related debentures to cover the distribution.

Also, a dividend on CMS Energy's Quarterly Income Preferred Securities is payable July 15, 2005, in the amount of $0.96875 per security to holders of record on June 30, 2005. CMS Energy will pay the trustee the interest on related debentures to cover the dividend.
