Cloudera Shares Down On Q4 Results, Outlook

(RTTNews) - Shares of Cloudera Inc. (CLDR) slipped 13% on Wednesday after the enterprise data cloud company's fourth-quarter loss widened and also detailed a weak outlook for the first quarter and full year 2020.

Net loss for the quarter widened to $85.5 million or $0.45 per share from $36.3 million or $0.25 per share last year. Adjusted loss per share for the quarter were $0.15 per share.

Total revenue for the fourth quarter rose 37% to $144.5 million from $105.7 million.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated loss of $0.11 per share and revenues of $121.07 million for the quarter.

Subscription revenue was $123.0 million, an increase of 42% from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2018.

"Our strong fourth quarter results showcase how customers are already embracing the new Cloudera's vision, as evidenced by early cross-sell motions to deliver data management and analytics from the Edge to AI," said Tom Reilly, chief executive officer, Cloudera. "Having completed the merger with Hortonworks, we are now squarely focused on delivering a powerful combined, integrated platform purpose-built for enterprise customers."

Looking forward to the first quarter, the company expects revenues of $187 million to $190 million and adjusted loss per share of $0.25 to $0.22. Analysts currently estimate loss of $0.11 per share and revenues of $122.38 million.

For the full year 2020, the Cloudera expects revenues of $835 million to $855 million and adjusted loss of $0.36 to $0.32 per share. Analysts currently estimate loss of $0.25 per share and revenues of $538.17 million.

CLDR closed Wednesday's trading at $14.61, up $0.25 or 1.74%, on the Nasdaq. The stock, however, slipped $1.86 or 12.73% in the after-hours trading.
