Clariant Appoints New Chief Financial Officer
The appointment follows the naming last month of Jan Secher asClariant's Chief Executive designate, taking over from current CEORoland Loesser, who will become Chairman of the Board of Directors onApril 7, 2006 at the company's Annual General Meeting.
Patrick Jany will replace current CFO Francois Note, who will beleaving at the end of this year to pursue opportunities outsideClariant.
"Francois Note leaves Clariant with my sincere appreciation forplaying a key role in restoring a strong financial base for Clariantand for his valuable contribution to our Transformation Program," Mr.Loesser said. "We wish him all the very best."
Patrick Jany, 37, currently is Clariant's Head of CorporateDevelopment with responsibility for group strategy and mergers andacquisitions. Before taking that role, Mr. Jany was Head of CountryOrganization in Mexico. Prior to that, he held positions in Financeand Controlling within Clariant, including serving as Chief FinancialOfficer for the region ASEAN as well as Head of Controlling for thePigments & Additives Division. He joined Sandoz, one of Clariant'spredecessor companies, in 1990.
"Patrick Jany has broad and deep experience of Clariant'soperations and its finances and I am sure that as CFO he will be agreat asset to the company," Mr. Loesser said.
Mr. Jany will join the Clariant Board of Management(Konzernleitung) starting January 1, 2006.

Patrick Jany, German citizen, has a degree in BusinessAdministration from the Ecole Superieure de Commerce in Paris, France.He is fluent in German and French and also speaks English and Spanish.
