Ciena Q4 Net Loss Widens - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Network specialist Ciena Corp. (CIEN) posted a wider fourth-quarter GAAP net loss of $30.7 million, or $0.29 per share, compared with last year's loss of $9.8 million, or $0.09 per share. On an adjusted basis, net loss for the fiscal fourth quarter 2014 amounted to $8.2 million, or $0.08 per share. On average, 20 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.13 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For the fiscal fourth quarter 2014, Ciena reported revenue of $591.0 million, as compared with $583.4 million a year ago. Wall Street expected revenues of $589.44 million for the quarter.

Going ahead, Ciena expects fiscal first quarter 2015 revenue to be in the range of $540 million to $570 million, while Wall Street expect revenues of $566.58 million for the first quarter.
