Checkpoint Systems Loss Narrows

(RTTNews) - Checkpoint Systems Inc (CKP) Monday reported fourth-quarter net loss of $5 million or $0.12 per share compared with a loss of $34 million or $0.83 per share last year.

Results for the prior year included after-tax goodwill impairment charges of $38 million.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.30 per share compared with earnings of $0.13 per share a year ago.

On average, three analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.31 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues for the quarter were $194.4 million compared with $200.5 million in the prior year. Analysts projected revenues of $190.5 million for the quarter.

Gross profit margins were 38.8% compared with 39.4% last year.

Thorofare, New Jersey-based Checkpoint Systems makes technology-driven, loss prevention, inventory management and labeling solutions to the retail and apparel industry.
