Centex Construction Awarded Two Class A Office Buildings in Downtown W

FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 8, 2005--Centex Construction has received two contract awards to provide preconstruction and general contracting services for two Class A office buildings to be located in Washington, D.C.
1101 New York Avenue:
This upscale office building, to be located on New York Avenue between 11th and 12th Streets, will contain 517,590 gross square feet and 16 stories, including three levels of below-grade parking and one concourse level of office space. With a construction value over $50 million, the building will feature a two-story lobby, a distinctive curtainwall facade with floor-to-ceiling vision glass and high-end finishes throughout. Special features will include a fitness center and a rooftop terrace. Designed by Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo and Associates LLC, 1101 New York Avenue is designed to qualify for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. Construction is slated for completion in December 2006. The project was awarded by Louis Dreyfus Property Group.
Republic Square:
To be located on 25 Massachusetts Ave., NW, this Class A speculative office building and parking garage will include 561,455 gross square feet throughout its 13 floors, four of which will be below grade. The design includes 10 floors of office space and three floors of parking. The exterior will feature architectural cast stone with precast cornices, a precast dome, punched strip windows, a two-story storefront and a fritted glass and bronze metal canopy at the main entrance. The parking garage will include 152,669 gross square feet to accommodate more than 370 vehicles. Devrouax & Purnell with Leo A Daly is the architect of the $40 million office building. Scheduled for completion in February 2006, this is the first phase of the two-phase Republic Square project. The project was awarded by Republic Properties Corporation.
