Cattle farming: Quebec producers are now members of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association

LONGUEUIL, QC, April 6, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Les Producteurs de bovins du Québec (PBQ) are henceforth officially members of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association (CCA). The announcement was made by PBQ Chairman Claude Viel on April 4th and 5th, in Quebec City, before more than 200 cattle farmers gathered together at their annual general assembly.

Their membership in the PBQ will enable them to sit on pan-Canadian working committees and to have access to more information and documentation on a variety of issues like foreign trade agreements, carbon footprints, farming impact on greenhouse gasses, animal welfare, sustainable beef, and so on. "At a time when new frontiers are continually opening up and our buyers have new requirements, this new membership is a reflection of our desire to grow, and to enhance our ability to face new industry challenges" said Claude.

At the time of the announcement, the PBQ President was accompanied by outgoing CCA Chairman Dan Darling and John Masswohl, Director of Government Affairs and International Relations. "We are pleased to welcome Quebec Cattle Producers and look forward to their working alongside all our provincial association members in our efforts to represent Canada's beef industry", indicated David Haywood-Farmer, the current CCA Chairman, who was unable to attend the event.

The CCA represents over 60,000 cattle farms in Canada.
