Carnival Charts New Cruises From New York City

(RTTNews) - Cruise operator Carnival Corp. & plc (CCL, CUK, CCL.L), has announced plans to run 20 cruise voyages from New York next summer on its revamped Carnival Sunshine.

Carnival Sunshine will offer a schedule from New York in 2016 encompassing 20 voyages, departing between June and October 2016, with options ranging from two-day cruises to 10-day Caribbean voyages, the company said.

The Carnival Sunshine had undergone a $155 million makeover and is the first ship to feature all of Carnival's 'Fun Ship 2.0' dining, bar and entertainment facilities. Carnival Sunshine will also sail from Charleston, South Carolina and Norfolk, Virginia in the summer and autumn of 2016.

Carnival Sunshine will then return to its current home port of Port Canaveral, Florida, to offer a schedule of five to eight-day Caribbean cruises from November 2016.

"Carnival Sunshine has an extraordinary array of guest features and facilities and will provide consumers and our valued travel agent partners with a wide range of itinerary choices from these highly attractive East Coast homeports," said Christine Duffy, Carnival's president.

Carnival Sunshine replaces Carnival Splendor on the line's departures from New York and Norfolk in 2016. Information on the future home port of Carnival Splendor will be provided in the near future, the company said in a statement.
