Canadian Stocks Flat Monday -- Canadian Commentary
(RTTNews) - Canadian stocks were flat Monday, holding near record highs after a quiet session.
In economic news, wholesale sales rose 0.5% to $62.8 billion in August, led by the personal and household goods and motor vehicle and parts subsectors.
Hudson's Bay Company (HBC.TO) Chairman Richard Baker announced that CEO Jerry Storch will leave the company. The stock fell 1.7 percent.
"Right now, our entire team in North America and Europe is focused on delivering a strong holiday season and best serving our customers," Baker said in a statement.
Crude oil futures inched higher Monday despite moves by Iraq to mitigate the supply disruptions brought on by the Kurdish conflict.
West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 6 cents to close at $51.90 a barrel.
The TSX Composite Index was up 1.69 points to 15,858.91.
