Canadian Athletic Therapists Association: Athletic Therapists tell their story beyond the side-lines.

The common vision of a Certified Athletic Therapist is a person who runs off the sideline to help an injured player. But that only scratches the surface of multitude situations in which Certified Athletic Therapists work. Now CATA has embarked on a national initiative to tell Canadians all about their experiences.

CALGARY, Sept. 21, 2017 /CNW/ - On June 1, the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA) launched a new national marketing campaign called Whatever Your Finish Line. The goal is to raise awareness and educate Canadians on the benefits of athletic therapy, and help Certified Athletic Therapists (ATs) increase demand for their services.

"Because of the 'athletic' in our title, many believe that we only work with athletes," explains Sandy Jespersen, Executive Director of CATA. "We're proud of the work we do with amateur and professional athletes, but we also want to shift this perception, and open a dialogue with the public about athletic therapy and how it can help them stay active."

The centrepiece of the campaign is the yourfinishline.ca website. The site features  a variety of articles, infographics and video so active Canadians are aware that Athletic Therapists are an effective option for injury rehabilitation and prevention.

The site's content is broken into various sections for easy navigation. For example, the Gear and Stuff section highlights therapeutic equipment. The Injured, Now What? spotlight explains common injuries and the ideal rehabilitation therapy. And the Ready, Set, Go! section provides advice to help people prepare to get active.

Other features of the campaign include Twitter (@_yourfinishline), Facebook (Whatever Your Finish Line) and Instagram (@whateveryourfinishline). These social channels allow ATs to connect with their community and have fun highlighting their role.  "We want Canadians to know that ATs are experts in injury prevention, emergency care, rehabilitation, re-conditioning for better performance and reduced chance of re-injury" says Jespersen. "In my opinion, athletic therapy is one of the best-kept secrets in health care."
