Campbell Recognizes Employees for Maintaining Healthy Lifestyles

Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB) today celebrated the healthy habits of five North American employees by recognizing them with the company’s "Healthy Lifestyle Award.” Presented annually, the award honors employees who have adopted and sustained healthy habits, serving as role models to fellow employees.

The award recognizes employees who practice healthy eating habits, lead active lifestyles, maintain a healthy weight, practice positive stress management, and live tobacco free. The award also is designed to honor employees who have a positive influence on others with their healthy lifestyle.

Selected from 65 applications from 15 Campbell sites in North America, the five "Healthy Lifestyle Award” winners include: Priscilla Breeding of Pepperidge Farm’s Downer’s Grove, Illinois facility; Kim Hall of Pepperidge Farm Headquarters in Norwalk, Connecticut; Rebecca Kerr, of Campbell’s World Headquarters in Camden, New Jersey; Willy Mzerera of Campbell Company of Canada’s Toronto manufacturing facility; and Thora Williams of Campbell Canada’s Toronto Headquarters.

"Each of the five employees recognized today exemplifies a dedication to healthy living and is inspiring those around them to do so as well,” said Nancy Reardon, Chief Human Resources and Communications Officer, Campbell Soup Company. "They are truly deserving of this award and they underscore Campbell’s commitment to encouraging people to nourish their health.”

Each winner received a $500 cash award, company-wide recognition and a gift basket of Campbell’s healthy products, including Campbell’s Healthy Request soups, V8 juices, and Pepperidge Farm whole grain breads.

Details on Winners:

A Production Scheduler on the first shift, Priscilla Breeding of Pepperidge Farm’s Downers Grove, Illinois facility is known for her healthy mind, body and spirit. Breeding works out twice a day and eats a healthy diet to maintain a healthy weight for over 20 years. Her active lifestyle is contagious. In fact, she suggested and implemented stretching routines during pre-shift meetings and now this healthy regimen is part of the process for those she works with every day. "The most important thing for me is to feel good both inside and out,” said Breeding. "That’s why I take a healthy approach to everything in my life and in my work.”

Kim Hall, a Senior Group Manager of Consumer Insights for the Innovation team at Pepperidge Farm’s Norwalk headquarters, has sustained a diet and exercise regimen over two years, resulting in a weight loss of nearly 100 pounds. Hall logs everything she eats in a food diary and has changed the way she cooks for her family and the way she approaches dining out. She is now able to participate in more activities with her family and is even learning to ski. "As a researcher, one of my proudest accomplishments is that my sustained weight loss has qualified me to be part of the National Weight Control Registry,” said Hall. "It’s great to think my weight loss efforts will be part of a national research program.”

Twenty-nine year old Rebecca Kerr, a Senior Billing Coordinator in the Legal Department at Campbell’s World Headquarters, had tried fad diets for years with the hope that she could lose weight. After resigning herself to the fact that her weight was ‘meant to be,’ she decided to try Campbell’s "10 Weeks to a New U” program. "My goal was to lose 18-20 pounds and I thought I’d be lucky to lose 10,” recalled Kerr. But after diligently going to every class where she learned to count calories and began a regular exercise program, Kerr gradually lost 30 pounds and brought her high blood pressure down to normal levels.

Willy Mzerera is known to get in a workout at the Campbell Company of Canada fitness center as early as 4:30 am before he begins day shift as a Prep Team Member in the company’s Toronto manufacturing facility. Mzerera was nominated for the Healthy Lifestyle Award by people who he has personally motivated to become physically active. He leads a weight training class at the company’s fitness center, acts as a peer coach, helping colleagues by providing tips on both diet and exercise, and encourages them to participate in the company’s health screenings and educational seminars. Mzerera always says, "These are my friends, I want them all to be healthy and feel good.”

Like Mzerera, his colleague, Thora Williams of the Information Technology department, is regularly seen at the onsite fitness center at Campbell Company of Canada. A member of the company’s Wellness Council for seven years, Williams has been well known for promoting a healthy lifestyle. She wears a pedometer to track her 10,000 steps a day, and has taken her focus to a new level, losing 30 pounds this year and successfully keeping it off. Williams’ personal wellness journey began as a support to her sister, and she has brought that same motivational spirit to the office. "The support and participation from my IT team has made me comfortable in a leadership role,” said Williams. "I enjoy being a motivator and encouraging employees to get healthy.”
