CallWave's WebMessenger Named to 2008 Forum Nokia Innovation Series
CallWave, Inc. (Nasdaq: CALL), a leading provider of Internet and mobile-based unified communications solutions, today announced that Nokia has selected CallWave’s WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) solution as one of the first participants in the 2008 Forum Nokia Innovation Series. This series is a new program that acknowledges excellence and provides global marketing support to select small- and mid-sized innovative mobile applications developers.
CallWave joined seven other companies in the first group of Forum Nokia Innovation Series participants. To qualify for Forum Nokia, WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft OCS cleared multiple selection hurdles in a year-long screening process that included internal Nokia reviews, and features and functionality screenings by end-user focus groups around the world.
WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft OCS enables enterprises to extend their investments in the popular Microsoft unified communications platform to Nokia mobile devices. The application provides secure, carrier-class instant messaging and presence on the Nokia Eseries and Nseries devices, and allows mobile professionals to collaborate seamlessly on any instant messaging service in a secure environment. In doing so, businesses allow their mobile workforces to collaborate and make decisions in real time, enhance productivity and lower operating expenses related to corporate travel and telecommunications. As part of the Forum Nokia program, CallWave’s WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft OCS is showcased in an online video demonstration created by Forum Nokia and hosted at Share on Ovi: http://share.ovi.com/channel/Forum_Nokia.Innovation.
"Nokia welcomes CallWave among the first Forum Nokia Innovation Series participants,” said Tom Libretto, Vice President, Forum Nokia. "CallWave joins an outstanding group of developers whose compelling applications are great examples of the many innovative technologies being created by developers of all sizes around the world. We’re excited to be able to help put these applications in front of consumers and business users through the Forum Nokia Innovation Series.”
"We are excited that Nokia has elected to feature our WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft OCS solution to its business customers in the U.S. and around the world,” said Joe Naylor, CallWave’s Senior Vice President of Sales. "This achievement demonstrates the strength of our unique technology, and the ubiquitous nature of our solution. The number of mobile workers in the U.S. alone has increased more than 800% in the last five years. Given the trend in workforce virtualization, enterprises everywhere are seeking to extend the benefits of secure desktop collaboration out to their mobile workforces. Together with Nokia we are making mobile unified communications a reality.”
As part of the Forum Nokia Innovation Series 2008 selection process, each developer was required to demonstrate that their application or service provided specific benefits to Nokia mobile device users not otherwise available, and that a clear market demand existed for such a solution.
Microsoft OCS manages all real-time (synchronous) communications including instant messaging, VoIP, audio and video conferencing. Microsoft OCS also powers enhanced presence, a key benefit of Microsoft unified communications that unites all the contact information stored in Active Directory with the ways people communicate. CallWave’s WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft OCS extends similar functionality to Nokia S60 devices, enabling mobile professionals to achieve the same collaboration and productivity opportunities in the field that they experience in the office. WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft OCS can be used by itself or in conjunction with other enterprise collaboration platforms and IM networks, connect with enterprise voice IP-PBX platforms, extend persistent group chat solutions, or leverage existing auditing and compliance tracking solutions. The Forum Nokia Innovation Series was launched by Nokia in late-2007 as an ongoing developer selection and go-to-market program, designed to support small- to mid-sized mobile developers as they strive to bring applications and services built to run on Nokia device platforms to the global mobile marketplace.
