C-COR's Subscriber Fulfillment Solution Enables Cabovisao to Be Portugal's First Cable Operator to Deliver Triple Play Services

    Business Editors/Technology Editors

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 2005--C-COR Incorporated (Nasdaq:CCBL), a global provider of interoperable network solutions for the Internet Protocol (IP) era that include access and transport products, software systems, and technical services, today announced that Cabovisao, a top cable provider in Portugal, will implement C-COR's Service Activation Manager (SAM) platform to deliver VoIP, high-speed data, and an expanded number of Pay TV channels to more than 120,000 subscribers. The SAM project is scheduled for completion in July 2005 and positions Cabovisao as the first cable provider to deliver the triple play of voice, video, and data services in Portugal. C-COR's SAM automates the entire subscriber lifecycle -- from equipment qualification to customer support -- and is the only end-to-end service activation management system to include subscriber management, workflow management, and device provisioning capabilities for data, voice, video, and residential gateway. It is a component of C-COR's offering of advanced standards-based applications covering on demand content delivery, customer provisioning, network optimization and health, automated workforce management, and digital ad insertion, all of which help network operators to better deploy and manage entertainment and information services.
Jorge Patricio, Marketing Manager of Cabovisao, stated, "This project marks the beginning of a fundamental change for Cabovisao. C-COR has developed a system with a totally integrated architecture, supported by a cost effective licensing model that really fits Cabovisao's development and growth strategy. For our subscribers, this will mean access to the highest quality services available and improved service assurance. The new platform is also scaleable and will ensure that we can support the continuing trend of subscriber growth."
Gerhard Nederlof, Corporate Vice President of Sales for EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Asia), also stated, "Cabovisao will be the first operator in Portugal to offer triple play services, establishing significant potential new revenue streams. This project exemplifies our goal to be a trusted partner with our customers, leveraging our global expertise and interoperable, standards-based solutions to simplify service deployments, lower risks in managing change, and help network operators drive profitable revenues."

About C-COR's Service Activation Manager (SAM)

C-COR Solutions, one of C-COR's three complementary business units, develops, markets, deploys, and supports a platform of advanced OSS (Operational Support Systems) applications for network operators that include content management, network assurance, subscriber fulfillment, and workforce management for current HFC networks and next-generation IP-based networks. As a part of the subscriber fulfillment component, C-COR's SAM enables cable operators to automatically manage the service provisioning and revenue collection of a portfolio of on demand services over the cable infrastructure by integrating all layers of the IT infrastructure, including billing, order entry, customer care, and network management. Its open, vendor-independent platform minimizes development requirements, costs, and time to integrate into the existing network infrastructure, and it provides an easy-to-use GUI (Graphical User Interface) tool for operators to model new service offerings, thus facilitating a rapid introduction of new services. With an easily extendable architecture, the SAM allows future services through simple add-on components and a single integrated solution for workflow, device provisioning, and VoIP security.
