Bully Blitz Planned for August 23, Chicago

CHICAGO, Aug. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) will bring together some of the brightest minds in the industry for IDSA's International Conference in Chicago this week.  And, during IDSA's event, those talented minds and pioneers will come together to host a brainstorming Blitz to create tangible ideas for a meaningful impact on a social dilemma.

They will tackle the subject of bullying – a hot topic in the media, in our communities, our schools and around the dinner table.  Recent statistics have shown a connection between bullying and some of the horrific events that have recently taken place in schools and on school buses.  Victims of bullying can become withdrawn, less productive, drop out from school or even suicidal. Others lash out and become bullies themselves.

Harassment and bullying have been linked to 75% of school-shooting incidents. More than 13 million students in the United States experience some form of bullying each year.

At IDSA this weekend, social activist John Bielenberg will host a "Bully Blitz" session to create design concepts for new products and services that could make a big impact on schools across the globe.  The Bully Blitz will be partnering with Hero in the Hallway, a firm that has already had successful results in Chicago schools with their "Spirit Desk" system, to determine what other products and services can help make a difference.
