BT Group Q2 Profit Rises, Revenue Flat; Says On Track To Achieve FY Outlook
(RTTNews) - Communications services provider BT Group Plc (BT_A.L, BT) reported Thursday that its second-quarter profit before tax increased 14 percent to 642 million pounds from last year's 563 million pounds.
Earnings per share were 6.3 pence, 13 percent higher than last year's 5.6 pence.
Adjusted pre-tax profit was 706 million pounds, compared to 690 million pounds a year ago. Adjusted earnings per share was 6.9 pence, same as last year.
EBITDA, before items, a key earnings metric, declined 1 percent reflecting investment in BT Sport Europe, the company said.
Revenue for the period was 4.46 billion pounds, compared to 4.44 billion pounds a year ago. Adjusted revenues were 4.381 billion euros, compared to 4.383 billion euros last year.
Further, the company announced interim dividend of 4.4 pence, up 13 percent.
Looking ahead, the company said its strategy is delivering and that its results show that the firm is on track to achieve outlook for the year.
The company is also pushing ahead with plans to get ultrafast broadband to ten million premises by the end of 2020.
