Brown & Brown Profit Rises

(RTTNews) - Brown & Brown Inc (BRO), a seller of insurance products, on Monday reported first-quarter net earnings of $56.9 million or $0.39 per share compared with $52.4 million or $0.36 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.40 per share compared with $0.38 per share a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were higher at $404.3 million compared with $363.6 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.40 per share on revenues of $409.4 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of $0.11 per share.
