Borders Books and Music to Open Store in Oahu, Hawaii

    ANN ARBOR, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 16, 2005--Borders Books and Music(R) will open a store in Aiea, Oahu, Hawaii in September 2005. The 22,603 square-foot store will be located at the Pearlridge Center at 98-1025 Moanalua Road, off Kamehameha Highway. The new Borders will offer area residents a comfortable place to explore a vast selection of book, music, DVD and newsstand titles. The store will feature a Seattle's Best Coffee(R) cafe that will serve their full line of premium coffee and non-coffee beverages, including lattes, mochas and blended beverages, and a fresh food menu, featuring pastries and sandwiches. The store will also host free events such as lectures, author signings, musical performances, children's activities and 'Benefit Days' that support local charities throughout the year.
    The new location will be Borders' seventh in Hawaii, including locations in Honolulu. Maui, and Kauai. The Pearlridge Center is Hawaii's largest enclosed shopping center, and boasts the state's only monorail. The new site was selected based on a variety of factors including demographics, the strength of the cotenants, traffic patterns, the availability of parking and the overall attractiveness of the site.
