Best Low-Interest Credit Cards
AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Core Visa credit card from PNC Bank is the best low-interest credit card, according to CreditCards.com.
"When it comes to low-interest cards, math wins," says CreditCards.com editor-in-chief Daniel P. Ray. "And the PNC Core Visa has an outstanding regular APR that starts at just 10.24%, making it best in its class." That's nearly five percentage points below the national average for all credit cards. The Citi Diamond Preferred card's extra-long 0% introductory period – 21 months on purchases and balance transfers – landed it in second place. Most credit card promotions offer interest-free financing for 12 to 15 months.
The SunTrust Cash Rewards credit card earned the No. 3 spot. Unlike the two cards listed above, it offers rewards (such as 5% cash back on the first $6,000 cardholders spend on gas and groceries in the first 12 months). However, its interest rate isn't as low, especially for cardholders with lesser credit. APRs range from 10.49 to 21.49%.
To help choose the best low-interest credit cards, CreditCards.com consulted business and personal finance experts and nominated three finalists. A panel of five judges – including three independent experts and two members of the CreditCards.com staff – separately evaluated the three finalists and ranked them in order of preference. The card with the best average rank was chosen as the winner.
