Berry Verkaar Joins Guy Carpenter's Benelux Treaty Group

Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, the leading global risk and reinsurance specialist and a part of the Marsh & McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC), today announced that Berry Verkaar has joined the firm as Senior Vice President, Treaty for the Benelux region. Mr. Verkaar, who will be based in Rotterdam and report to Managing Director J. Bruno Bogaerts, will be responsible for leading treaty activity and new business development in the Netherlands. "Berry will be a key contributor to furthering our growth in the Netherlands,” said Mr. Bogaerts. He joins Guy Carpenter from AXA Netherlands where he led Strategic Business Programs. In addition to establishing an independent management consulting business, Mr. Verkaar also previously led Fortis Corporate Insurance’s Netherlands property group after holding a senior management position in the company’s Belgium and Netherlands business development unit. He holds a BSc in architectural engineering from the Technical College ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, as well as an MBA in financial services and insurance jointly awarded by the University of St Gallen in Switzerland, Vlerick School of Management in Belgium and Nijenrode University in the Netherlands. Mr. Verkaar also holds an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from the Insurance Institute of America.
