Baxter International Inc. Q1 Earnings Rise 60%

(RTTNews) - Baxter International Inc. (BAX) released a profit for its first quarter that climbed from last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $318 million, or $0.58 per share. This was higher than $199 million, or $0.36 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.52 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 4.2% to $2.47 billion. This was up from $2.37 billion last year.
