Barrick Gold Corporation announced today that Alex Davidson has been appointed Executive Vice President Exploration and Corporate Development, effective immediately. Previously Mr. Davidson was Executive Vice President of Exploration.

"Alex brings to this position a real understanding of the mining business and a wealth of experience. I look forward to working closely with him as we further develop our growth plans."
Since joining Barrick in 1993, Mr. Davidson has overseen the expansion of the Company's exploration program from North America into South America and around the globe.
