Barnes & Noble Names Brenda Marsh to the Newly Created Position of Vice President of Author Relations

Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE:BKS), the world's largestbookseller, today announced that Brenda Marsh has been appointed tothe newly created position of Vice President of Author Relations. Inher new role, Ms. Marsh will represent Barnes & Noble to its mostimportant audience: authors. She will be responsible for creating newauthor programs and initiatives.

Ms. Marsh first joined Barnes & Noble.com in 1998 as VicePresident of Merchandising and currently serves as Vice President ofContent and Merchandising at Barnes & Noble.com. Under her leadership,"Meet the Writers," an online feature that profiles over 600 authors,was launched. She also developed the successful online reading groupprogram, which is enjoyed by thousands of customers, and helpedestablish and launch "What America's Reading," a feature that provideshourly, daily and weekly updates on bestselling books. It is thelargest single source of book sales and trend information for authors.Brenda has more than 25 years of experience working in sales andmarketing for the publishing industry (HarperCollins, Viking Penguin,and St. Martin's Press) and is universally known by publishers andauthors.
