BankAtlantic’s Marta Armas Appointed Board of Directors of Amigos of the Cuban Heritage Collection at the University of Miami
BankAtlantic, Florida’s Most Convenient Bank, announced today that Marta Armas, BankAtlantic’s Senior Vice President and Director of Professional Banking, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Amigos of the Cuban Heritage Collection (the "CHC” or "Collection”) at the University of Miami.
The Cuban Heritage Collection at the University of Miami collects, preserves, and provides access to primary and secondary sources of enduring historical, research, and artifactual value which relate to Cuba and the Cuban diaspora from colonial times to the present. The Collection supports the teaching, learning, and research needs of the University of Miami and the broader scholarly community and the span of the University of Miami Libraries' Cuban Heritage Collection reinforces the University's commitment to a continuing relationship with its neighbors. In addition, the Collection hosts researchers from around the world who are interested in Cuban history, the Cuban exile experience, and the impact of Cuban Americans in South Florida and beyond.
The Cuban Heritage Collection is located in the Roberto C. Goizueta Pavilion on the second floor of the Otto G. Richter Library, on the University of Miami's Coral Gables Campus. The Otto G. Richter Library's street address is 1300 Memorial Drive in Coral Gables, Florida.
The Cuban Heritage Collection’s regular hours are Monday and Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., and Thursday and Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The CHC is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Ms. Marta Armas has been in banking since 1972. She started at SunTrust Bank and has been with BankAtlantic for 21 years holding many leadership positions and currently is the Director Professional Banking with offices at the Brickell Branch, in Miami. She is involved in many community organizations including the Board of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Honorary Board, Trustee Member of CAMACOL and Member of the Board of The Charlee Program. Ms. Armas also represents the bank at the Miami-Dade League of Cities. Marta has lived in Miami since 1960 when her family migrated from Cuba and is married, has two sons and two beautiful granddaughters.
