Assurant Q4 Profit Soars - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Assurant Inc. (AIZ) Wednesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $108.8 million or $1.46 per share, up from $25.0 million or $0.31 per share in the same period last year.

Operating income for the quarter was $106.0 million or $1.42 per share. On average, eight analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.41 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues increased to $2.40 billion from $2.16 billion last year. Analysts expected revenues of $2.22 billion.

Net-earned premiums, fees and other income amounted to $2.2 billion, up 14.2 percent from last year. Net investment income totaled $161.2 million, down from $172.1 million last year.
