Ascom to Supply 6700 Swedish Court Employees with the IP-DECT System for Telephony, Alarms and Messaging

Ascom has been chosen to supply their IP-DECT platform to the National Courts Administration once their central switchboard has been set up in Jönköping. This is part of a comprehensive project undertaken by system integrator Cygate, who will consolidate all of the court’s local switchboards and related operations into one central unit in Jönköping. The National Courts Administration is a state authority that functions as a service organization for the country's courts.

"We are proud to have received the prestigious assignment of providing Sweden's court system with a modern platform for reliable and secure wireless voice and alarm communications. Ascom IP-DECT is a cost-effective solution, combining the best of today's solutions with tomorrow's technology”, says Ascom Account Manager Fredrik Garpemyr.

Creating conditions for well-functioning technical operations support was included in the National Courts Administration's scope, therefore security functions were an important factor in the procurement process. For example, Ascom system's alarms will work locally even if contact with the central switchboard in Jönköping is broken.

"The partnership with Ascom works exceptionally well and together we will deliver a solution for the National Courts Administration that combines high accessibility and enhanced service level while providing users with a unified and robust communications solution with less downtime than previously”, says Cygate Account Manager Johan Mosskull.

Ascom's platform enables messages and alarms to and from security personnel’s IP-DECT telephones. The system also supports positioning, which strengthens personal security even further in the case of an evacuation alarm.

When the current switchboard system has been modernized and phased out, around 3000 employees in the Stockholm region will use the IP-based infrastructure via Ascom’s d62 or d81 DECT telephones. The project to consolidate the infrastructure for telephony, alarms, and messaging is now underway and is estimated to be completed in all the affected locations during 2016.

¨The next stage will now be to evaluate which alarm, messaging and positioning functions from Ascom's platform we will implement in order to best support the National Courts Administration's needs¨, concludes Mosskull.
