Arrow Electronics Appoints J. Edward Coleman Senior Vice President and President, Arrow North American Computer Products
MELVILLE, N.Y., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Arrow Electronics, Inc. today announced the appointment of J. Edward Coleman, age 53, as senior vice president and president, Arrow North American Computer Products (NACP).
Mr. Coleman will lead Arrow's NACP business and any plans to expand NACP internationally. He will report to William E. Mitchell, president and chief executive officer of Arrow Electronics. While transitioning into his new role, Mr. Coleman will work closely with Michael Long who has led the computer products business since 1998 and was named president, Arrow North America, in May 2005. Mr. Long will continue to provide leadership direction for the company's North American Components (NAC) division, and will be assigned to work on other strategic and operational activities of importance to the company after a transition period with Mr. Coleman.

From 1999 to 2004, Mr. Coleman served as chief executive officer of CompuCom Systems, a $1.4 billion provider of information products and services to Fortune 1000 companies. He was elected chairman of the board of CompuCom in 2001. Previously, he held senior executive positions with Computer Sciences Corporation and McCollister's Technical Services. From 1976 to 1993, he held a variety of management and leadership positions at IBM, including general manager and vice president of Channel Financing within IBM Credit Corporation, and other positions within inventory management, marketing operations and marketing programs. Mr. Coleman holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the College of William and Mary, and a master's degree in business administration/marketing from Indiana University.
