Arrow and Philips Leverage RosettaNet to Accelerate Design Cycles

MELVILLE, N.Y., April 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Arrow Electronics, Inc. announced today that it has implemented the first RosettaNet design win process in the Asia Pacific region with Philips' semiconductor division, one of the world's leading providers of semiconductor-based solutions for connected consumer and communications applications. The RosettaNet design win process automates the exchange of design information through real-time system-to-system communication, accelerating product design cycles. Arrow and Philips also have an existing RosettaNet engagement in North America.

"Arrow's implementation of RosettaNet fosters a global, accurate and efficient electronics supply chain that encourages demand creation," said Pascal Langlois, Senior Vice President, Channel Management and MultiMarket Semiconductors, Philips Semiconductors.

"We are pleased to add demand creation to our suite of RosettaNet implementations in the Asia Pacific region," said Jan Salsgiver, Vice President, Global Strategy and Operations, Arrow. "Our experience clearly shows that as this RosettaNet standard is implemented around the world, all members of the supply chain benefit from the improved timeliness of opportunity identification, greater productivity of key resources and faster time to market."

The Arrow and Philips RosettaNet systems use the full series of RosettaNet 5C Partner Interface Processes (PIPs). RosettaNet PIPs use a common language to define business processes between trading partners. The result is a fully automated system that provides Arrow and Philips with the ability to share accurate, up-to-the-minute information about potential design opportunities.

"Arrow's initiative aligns well with Philips' global design win program that ensures real-time information is captured on a global scale so that supply chain partners can be equitably rewarded regardless of where a design win was secured and where volume manufacturing ultimately occurred," said Langlois.

Since 1999 Arrow Electronics has been a leader in developing and implementing RosettaNet standards to automate, streamline, and accelerate the electronics supply chain. Arrow is currently engaged with numerous trading partners on a wide range of RosettaNet processes that cover the entire cycle, from product concept through to order management and payment.
