Arkansas Best Posts Profit In Q4

(RTTNews) - Arkansas Best Corp.(ABFS), a freight transportation services and solutions provider, posted a profit for the fourth quarter, reflecting solidly improved profitability at ABF Freight System, Panther Expedited Services and revenue growth at other emerging, non-asset based businesses.

The company posted a profit of $10.3 million or $0.38 per share, compared to a loss of $7.9 million or $0.31 per share in the year-ago quarter.

Excluding adjustments for non-operational items, Arkansas Best's earnings totaled $8.4 million, or $0.31 per share. On average, seventeen analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.30 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

For the fourth quarter, the company's revenues rose to $578.5 million from $537.0 million in the same quarter of last year. Analysts expected the company to report revenues of $566.53 million for the quarter.
