Argo Group Swings To Profit - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Insurance company Argo Group International Holdings Ltd. (AGII) Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $47.8 million or $1.74 per share compared with net loss of $4.7 million or $0.17 per share last year.

Excluding items, operating earnings for the quarter were $22.6 million or $0.82 per share compared with loss of $6 million or $0.21 per share a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.76 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Earned premiums for the quarter were $341.6 million, an increase from $314.7 million last year.

Analysts estimated revenues of $332.32 million for the quarter.

The combined ratio for the quarter was 95.2% compared to 109.6% in the prior year.
