(RTTNews) - Argo Group International Holdings, Ltd. (AGII) reported that its third-quarter net income increased to $44.7 million or $1.69 per share from $31.0 million or $1.12 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Operating income for the quarter was $0.89 per share, compared to $0.80 per share in the prior-year period. On average, eight analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.86 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
