Arbitron Promotes Kathleen Ross to Chief Administrative Officer

NEW YORK, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Arbitron Inc. today promoted Kathleen Ross to the newly-created position of chief administrative officer.

In this capacity, she will oversee and integrate a broad array of staffing and infrastructure initiatives to support Arbitron's growth. Ms. Ross will be responsible for leading the company's talent and organizational effectiveness strategies, its corporate and marketing communications, as well as project management and corporate real estate.

"Kathie has keen insight into our business and has exceptional organization, people and problem-solving skills," said Stephen Morris, chief executive officer and president, Arbitron Inc. "As chief administrative officer, she will further assist Arbitron as it prepares itself and the industry for a new era of electronic audience measurement."

Most recently, Ms. Ross had been executive vice president, Organizational Effectiveness and Public Relations for Arbitron.

Before joining Arbitron in 1991, Ms. Ross was the vice president, Organization Development and Corporate Communications for Chevy Chase Bank. Prior to that, she held the position of director, Human Resources and Planning for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, an association of consumer-owned electrical utilities. Ms. Ross began her career at the Student Loan Marketing Association as a human resource manager.

Ms. Ross is vice chair of the board for Culpepper Garden (a facility providing both independent and assisted living services to low income seniors), a board member of the Emma Bowen Foundation (providing support to minority students in the media) and The Human Resource Planning Society.

Ms. Ross holds a B.S. degree in psychology from Abilene Christian University, an M.S. degree in human resource management from American University, and a Ph.D. in organizational behavior and development from the School of Business and Public Management of George Washington University where she serves as adjunct faculty.
