American Financial Group Announces 36% Increase In Q1 Bottom Line

(RTTNews) - American Financial Group (AFG) reported a profit for its first quarter that climbed from last year.

The company said its bottom line rose to $151 million, or $1.69 per share. This was up from $111 million, or $1.25 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.37 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 6.8% to $1.58 billion. This was up from $1.48 billion last year.
