American Airlines Names Oliver Martins VP-Engineering
FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines has named Oliver Martins Vice President of Engineering, Quality Assurance and Planning in the Maintenance and Engineering (M&E) organization, effective Feb. 1.
Martins will oversee the powerplant, airframe and component engineering functions, M&E maintenance planning and the M&E Quality Assurance/Inspections departments from American's principle overhaul base in Tulsa, Okla. He succeeds Randy Phillips, who recently retired.
Martins, previously Managing Director of Powerplant Maintenance, has 34 years of experience in areas of airline maintenance and engineering, production, quality and fleet management, airframe, systems and engines.
"Martins brings enthusiasm and expertise in Continuous Improvement practices that have helped American and M&E substantially improve maintenance processes and performances, particularly in our Pratt & Whitney and General Electric engine repair and overhaul shops in Tulsa," said Bob Reding, American's Senior Vice President for Technical Operations. "Martins is a proven change agent in leading large employee groups and managing large scale process-improvement initiatives."
Before joining American, Martins held leadership positions at Air Canada in the areas of planning, maintenance, engineering and fleet management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautics from the University of Washington.
