AMCOL Q4 Earnings Surge

(RTTNews) - AMCOL International Corp.'s (ACO) profit for the fourth quarter surged to $23.7 million or $0.72 a share from last year's $11 million or $0.34 a share. The company said its current quarter includes special items totaling to a $0.27 per share gain.

Excluding special items, the company said, earnings per share were $0.45. On average, 3 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.46 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items. Net sales for the fourth quarter grew 9.7 percent to $258.5 million, while analysts had expected revenues of $248.82 million for the quarter.
