Alstom Expands Presence in China’s Gas-Fired Power Generation Market with Another Contract for Two GT13E2 Gas Turbines

Regulatory News:

Alstom (Paris:ALO) has been awarded a contract by Harbin Turbine Company Limited (HTC) to supply two sets of GT13E2 gas turbine generators for Huaneng Power International’s (HPI) 517 MW Tongxiang combined cycle power plant. The contract is valued at approximately €40 million.

This power plant is located in the province of Zhejiang. This is Alstom’s second gas turbine order awarded by HTC within half a year, thanks to GT13E2’s outstanding efficiency, superior fuel performance and operational flexibility. The two new sets are scheduled to enter commercial operation by end 2013.

Alstom already has an existing relationship with HPI and is building a gas-fired power plant in Singapore for Tuas Power Generation Pte Ltd (TPG), a fully owned HPI subsidiary in the country.

"This new contract is an important milestone for Alstom. Our Chinese customer has shown their continued trust in our gas turbine solutions to secure high efficiency, high availability and reliable service. With this contract, we are looking towards broader opportunities in the Chinese gas turbine market,” said Mark Coxon, Senior Vice-President of Alstom’s Gas Business.

The GT13E2 is one of Alstom’s most successful gas turbines. This gas turbine is the largest and most efficient turbine of its class in the market. Its high efficiency brings a low operation cost, which provides significant benefits to customers in fuel savings and reduced emissions.
