Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. Profit Advances 17% In Q3

(RTTNews) - Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ALXN) revealed earnings for its third quarter that increased compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line came in at $328 million, or $1.44 per share. This was up from $281 million, or $1.23 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.32 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 7.5% to $859 million. This was up from $799 million last year.
