Alan Chow Named Chief Technology Officer for NCR's Financial Self-Service, Retail Store Automation and Customer Services Divisions

NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) has appointed Alan Chow tothe newly created position of chief technology officer. In thisposition, Chow is responsible for research and development for NCR'sfinancial self-service, retail store automation and customer servicesdivisions, and for leading a cross-business unit product managementteam for NCR's broader self-service business.

"Alan's passion for technology and keen understanding of how touse it to distinct advantage has made him the clear choice for thisnew leadership position," said Bill Nuti, NCR president and chiefexecutive officer. "From his early days as a software engineerpioneering the development of the data warehousing industry, to hismost recent role as vice president of NCR's Payment Solutionsbusiness, Alan has been a significant contributor to our success. Inthis new role, he'll build on our position of strength to drivefurther technological innovation across our self-service businesses."

Chow has over 30 years of experience, beginning his technologycareer in 1975 as a programmer at the University of California, LosAngeles (UCLA) Medical Center. He joined Teradata in 1981, which waspurchased by NCR in 1992. He served in successively higher-leveltechnology-oriented positions, including as Teradata's vice presidentof research and development.

In 2005, Chow was named vice president of NCR's Payment Solutions,leading the team that provides imaged-based services to the financeand retail industries.

Chow received a bachelor's degree in computer science from theMassachusetts Institute of Technology and earned a master's degree incomputer science from UCLA. He also holds a master of businessadministration degree from Pepperdine University.
