Panel Selects DSO80000 Series for Innovation, Uniqueness, Market Impact, Customer Benefits and Industry Value

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced that its new DSO80000 Series of high-performance oscilloscopes and InfiniiMax II probing systems has won the DesignVision Award in the test and measurement category at the recent DesignCon awards and recognition program hosted by the International Engineering Consortium (IEC).
"As the leader in providing educational opportunities to the electronic design industry, the IEC is proud to recognize Agilent Technologies for its ingenuity and service," said IEC Senior Director John Janowiak. "Based on this recognition, you can tell the spirit of innovation that has always fueled the electronic design and semiconductor industry is still going strong."
"We are honored to receive this prestigious DesignVision award from the International Engineering Consortium," said Ron Nersesian, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Design Validation Division. "The award recognizes our commitment to providing design engineers with an accurate, repeatable test platform that not only meets their needs today, but provides a buffer for incorporating future, high-speed serial bus technologies as well."
By next year, proprietary and industry-standard, high-speed serial buses such as Fibre Channel, fully buffered DIMM (FBD), serial ATA (SATA), serial attached SCSI (SAS) and PCI Express will have performance points that reach into the 4 to 8 Gb/s range. The Agilent Infiniium DSO80000 Series is required to capture the frequency harmonics and make accurate and repeatable measurements on such high-speed signals.
Prior to the DSO80000 introduction, oscilloscopes had a maximum real-time analog bandwidth of 8 GHz, which many high-speed electronics designers found limiting. The Agilent Infiniium DSO81304A, which began shipping in January, now gives those same designers 13 GHz of real-time bandwidth, which translates into higher signal fidelity, more accurate and repeatable measurements and improved test margins. This benchmark-setting test tool also allows previously hidden high-speed signal components to be seen easily by engineers.
The Agilent Infiniium DSO80000 Series introduction in October 2004 also included the Agilent InfiniiMax II Series probing system that is based on Agilent's award-winning InfiniiMax probing architecture. Helping to revolutionize oscilloscope probing systems across the industry, the Agilent InfiniiMax makes it possible to measure 13 GHz signals from the high-impedance probe tip to the highly responsive oscilloscope display, delivering an unmatched level of performance and usability.
