Aetna Inc Reveals 5% Increase In Q3 Earnings

(RTTNews) - Aetna Inc (AET) reported a profit for its third quarter that climbed from last year.

The company said its bottom line came in at $668.6 million, or $1.90 per share. This was up from $638.6 million, or $1.79 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.77 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 1.5% to $14.95 billion. This was up from $14.73 billion last year.
