Aetna Inc Q3 Profit Rises 10%

(RTTNews) - Aetna Inc (AET) released earnings for its third quarter that climbed compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line came in at $734.3 million, or $2.07 per share. This was higher than $668.6 million, or $1.90 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $2.03 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 5.6% to $15.78 billion. This was up from $14.95 billion last year.
