Aetna Inc Bottom Line Advances 8% In Q2

(RTTNews) - Aetna Inc (AET) announced earnings for its second quarter that increased from last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $783.3 million, or $2.21 per share. This was higher than $722.1 million, or $2.05 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $2.12 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 5.1% to $15.90 billion. This was up from $15.13 billion last year.
