Adobe Showcases Advancements in Document Security at RSA Conference 2005 Company Highlights New Solutions for Delivering Persistent Security Capabilities Beyond the Network Perimeter
Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today kicks off activities at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, the most prestigious information security event of the year, by demonstrating solutions that give organizations powerful new capabilities for securing information at the data level, no matter where the information travels -- online, offline, or outside the network.
In its exhibit (Booth 1342 at Moscone Center), Adobe will demonstrate persistent security through solutions that address the need for protecting information within the standard form of business communication -- electronic documents. Now, organizations can protect the authenticity of a document, the integrity of its content, and the confidentiality of the communication.
"Organizations have traditionally focused on the network perimeter to protect sensitive information such as intellectual property, customer information, and corporate financial data," said Paul Proctor, vice president at META Group. "To address the added complexity of managing risk and meeting regulatory compliance requirements, organizations are increasingly turning to persistently protect the information itself, regardless of what form it takes or where it resides."
Adobe's solutions for document control and security include Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) 7.0 software, Adobe LiveCycle(TM) Reader(R) Extensions, Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server, and Adobe LiveCycle Document Security -- a Principal Award Finalist in SC Magazine's Global Awards for Best New Security Solution. These Adobe Document Services enable organizations to apply digital signatures to Adobe PDF files, publish certified documents, and provide rights management for defining who can open, view, print, copy or modify a document.
Adobe also will highlight the newly released Acrobat 7.0 software, recently tested by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC). Many programs supporting the DoD missions require security services such as authentication, confidentiality, non-repudiation, and access control. Utilizing tests developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), certification ensures interoperability and compatibility with the DoD Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). Acrobat 7.0 can also utilize smartcards, including the DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
Several partners appearing in Adobe's theater presentations will highlight new solutions and strategies for securing information throughout its lifecycle, including ActivCard, Entrust, GeoTrust, Identrus, SafeNet and VeriSign. Additionally, John Landwehr, director of Adobe's Security Solutions and Strategy Group, will join prominent panelists from eBay, GeoTrust and Microsoft in "A View From The Bridge: Credential Service Providers Discuss New Authentication Standards" on Wednesday, February 16 at 4:50 p.m. to discuss the latest issues and challenges associated with credential service levels and requirements, and to answer questions on topics such as remote authentication and interoperability.
