Business Editors/High-Tech Editors
LITTLE ROCK, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 6, 2005--Acxiom(R) Corporation (NASDAQ: ACXM) today announced that a case study on the development of its Customer Information Infrastructure (CII) grid-computing technology has been chosen to be included in the prestigious Computerworld Honors Collection. Acxiom received the Medal of Achievement during an induction ceremony on Sunday at San Francisco City Hall.
"Each year, Computerworld Honors identifies and recognizes individuals around the world whose visionary use of information technology produces and promotes positive social, economic and educational change," said Bob Carrigan, CEO and publisher of Computerworld and chairman of the Chairman's Committee of the Computerworld Honors Program. "The innovators represented in this Collection have been recognized by the leading IT industry chairmen as true revolutionaries in their fields."
"Acxiom is proud to be included in the Computerworld Honors Collection," said Acxiom Company Leader Charles D. Morgan. "Innovation has been a continual force that drives Acxiom's success, and this award is further confirmation of the commitment Acxiom associates have to providing our clients with the latest, most efficient means of managing their customer information."
Michael Ruettgers, EMC Corporation Chairman of the Board, and member of The Chairmen's Committee nominated Acxiom for inclusion in the 2005 Collection. Acxiom's case study will now become part of a collection of case studies from 54 countries.
Acxiom's case study details the development and delivery of CII, a grid-computing infrastructure and specialized grid-enabled processing architecture and strategy designed to meet the increasing information management and time-to-market needs of the company and its clients.
"The exponential increase in the volume of consumer data and the cost required to effectively manage and store that information is a growing business challenge," said Alex Dietz, who leads the company's Products and Infrastructure Technology Organization. "CII offers capacity on demand and sets new standards in allowing companies to transform data into the intelligence needed to drive business initiatives, the result of which is an improved relationship with customers."
Acxiom's case study was one of more than 300 nominations submitted this year by members of the Chairman's Committee. Of the 160 laureates recognized at Sunday's ceremony, 50 will be chosen by a panel of distinguished judges to attend the June 6, 2005, awards gala in Washington D.C., where the 10 world finalists will be announced.
