Acuity Brands Q4 Profit Up 22% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Lighting fixtures maker Acuity Brands, Inc. (AYI) posted 22 percent higher net income of $54.8 million, or $1.26 per share in the fourth quarter, compared with $44.9 million, or $1.03 per share, in the prior-year period. On average, 13 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $1.22 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The Atlanta, Georgia-based company's operating profit was $90.7 million, compared with last year's $78.2 million.

Quarterly net sales of $668.7 million rose 15 percent compared with the year-ago period's $579.8 million, reflecting nearly 17 percent increase in sales volume, partially offset by the impact of an unfavorable change in product prices and the mix of products sold of one percentage point and the impact of an unfavorable change in foreign currency rates of nearly one-half percentage point. Twelve analysts projected sales of $649.22 million for the period.
