ACS Showcases Healthcare Best Practices at HIMSS Annual Conference

DALLAS, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. , a premier provider of business process outsourcing and information technology solutions, announced today that its commercial and government healthcare subject matter experts will present case studies that successfully address client healthcare challenges at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2007 Annual Conference and Exposition, February 25 to March 1.

"Our nation's healthcare continues to be a focal point for Americans, our leaders, and our institutions," said Chris Deelsnyder, Managing Director of ACS Government Healthcare Solutions. "It's critical that the industry's best and brightest share their insights and innovative best practices."

During HIMSS '07, ACS subject matter experts will offer three presentations using client case studies and research:

-- Implementing a comprehensive electronic health records system that reduces costs and improves the quality of care. Will Saunders, President of ACS Heritage, will share ACS' experience in delivering CyberAccess in Missouri to allow providers to view patient medical claims history, drug history and previous prescriptions, and clinical procedures. His presentation will take place Tuesday, February 27 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., in room 299 of the convention center. -- The evolution of 'Pay for Performance' and its potential impact on the hospital community. Kathryn Kuhmerker and Steven Reynolds of ACS Government Healthcare Solutions will explain how hospital management must prepare for an environment where 'Pay for Performance' becomes more pervasive. Their presentation is at 7 a.m. in the convention center's Crescent Room. -- The importance of clearly communicating details of an enterprise-wide software implementation to key audiences, from billing staff to physicians. Using a client example from York, Pennsylvania, Kim Elkins of ACS Government Healthcare Solutions will offer practical strategies to reach internal and external audiences, as well as hazards to avoid when developing an effective communication plan. Ms. Elkins will be joined by Robin Kimple of WellSpan Health during the presentation on Wednesday, February 28, 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., in room 262 of the convention center.
