Acme Packet Session Border Controllers Secure Alcatel-Lucent Communications Solutions for Enterprises
Acme Packet® (NASDAQ: APKT), the leader in session delivery networks, today announced that its Net-Net Session Director (SD) session border controller (SBC) is fully interoperable with Alcatel-Lucent SIP solutions providing large enterprises with an end-to-end, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based solution that ensures security, interoperability, and reliability for real-time, multimedia communications across IP network borders. This interoperability qualification, part of the Alcatel-Lucent Application Partner Program, also enables the companies to co-sell and co-market the combined solutions. The announcement was made at the Alcatel-Lucent Dynamic Tour 2011 in Barcelona.
"Integrating Acme Packet enterprise SBCs with Alcatel-Lucent SIP-based communication and collaboration platforms offers enterprises a comprehensive, secure and fully interoperable unified communications environment,” said Nicols De Kouchkovsky, CMO of Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise. "This solution also enables enterprises to leverage Alcatel-Lucent’s leadership in IP Communication Server environments.”
The initial solution features Acme Packet Net-Net 3820 and 4500 E-SBCs deployed at SIP trunking and Internet borders. Users in remote locations access Alcatel-Lucent SIP solutions over IP managed WAN or Internet connections. Remote employees utilize encryption technology embedded within Alcatel-Lucent My Instant Communicator SIP dekstop client. All signaling and media traffic is encrypted over the IP transport then terminated at Acme Packet E-SBCs. The E-SBCs also securely integrate remote employees and anonymous users into Alcatel- Lucent OmniTouch™ 8660 My Teamwork Conferencing and Collaboration solution.
"Our collaboration with Alcatel-Lucent provides enterprises with a secure and flexible SIP-based solution that simplifies the integration of voice, video and unified communications,” said Mark Vella, vice president of business development for Acme Packet. "Our Net-Net SBCs deliver industry-leading capabilities that complement Alcatel-Lucent’s wide range of SIP-based products, and provide a complete solution for its world-wide sales and service organizations.”
