Acacia Research Launches Houston Office And Energy Practice - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Acacia Research Corp.'s (ACTG) unit, InterCarrier Communications LLC, has reached a settlement agreement with BroadSoft, Inc. (BSFT) and BroadSoft iLinc Communications, Inc. The deal resolves all remaining issues regarding litigation that was dismissed without prejudice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Separately, the company announced the opening of a Houston office to support the company's focus on intellectual property partnerships in the expanding energy marketplace. Prior to joining Acacia Research, energy practice leader and Senior Vice President Charlotte Rutherford previously held executive positions and managed the global IP practices for Schlumberger, Colgate-Palmolive and Conoco.

Acacia Research's Houston office would concentrate on conventional oil and gas, unconventional oil and gas, and smart energy. The team collectively possesses more than 100 years of experience having previously worked with energy companies, including Shell Oil, Conoco, Schlumberger, Fluor, and Tenneco.
