3rd Annual Premios Fox Sports Shines Spotlight on Latino Athletes from the United States and Latin America

Delivering on its mission to bring Latino sports fans closer totheir favorite athletes and teams, Fox Pan American Sports todayhosted its 3rd Annual Premios Fox Sports presented by DHL, the onlyawards program of its kind to recognize the contributions andaccomplishments of Latino athletes and personalities from the world ofsports both on and off the field. Winners in 13 categories were votedon exclusively by fans and crowned, alongside recipients of specialrecognitions, during the official Premios Fox Sports presented by DHLawards ceremony held at the Jackie Gleason Theater of Performing Artsin Miami Beach, Florida. The show is currently scheduled to air onJanuary 8, 2006 in the United States on Fox Sports en Espanol andthroughout the Spanish-speaking Americas on Fox Sports Latin America.

The 3rd Annual Premios Fox Sports presented by DHL broughttogether sports and mainstream celebrities to honor the contributionsand achievements of Latino athletes and personalities from a varietyof sports. Cuban-American recording artist and former Sabado Giganteon-air personality Sissi hosted the show, alongside Mexican actorJaime Camil.

The evening's biggest winner was San Antonio Spurs' standout andArgentina native Emanuel Ginobili who took home both "Most OutstandingBasketball Player" and "Athlete of the Year" honors. Ginobili'sthird-straight triumph at Premios Fox Sports follows his GoldMedal-winning performance in Greece as a member of Argentina's Olympicchampionship team, as well as his second NBA Championship as a memberof the San Antonio Spurs. In addition to receiving two 3rd AnnualPremios Fox Sports statuettes, Ginobili was presented with acommemorative original portrait painted by internationally renownedCuban-American pop artist Carlos Navarro.

On the music front, Olga Tanon, anointed the "Queen of Merengue"by her legion of fans and one of the most popular and admired Latinartists of all time, kicked off the evening's entertainment with hersingle "Vete vete" from her new album "Una nueva mujer"; chart-toppingorchestral group N'Klabe paired up with reggaeton pioneer andsuperstar Voltio to deliver an electrifying performance of "Amor deuna noche," the group's second single from their latest album; Voltiofollowed up with "Bumper," a single from his first solo album; and2005 "Best New Artist" Grammy nominee, Reik, shined onstage with theirsingle "Noviembre sin ti"; Salsero Victor Manuelle brought down thehouse with his "Sabor a beisbol" and returned to the stage a secondtime to close the show with an encore performance of "Carnaval" thatset the mood for post-show festivities held later in the evening atthe Loews Miami Beach Hotel.
