Basel, Switzerland, October 15, 2015 - Basilea Pharmaceutica Ltd. (SIX: BSLN) announced today the signing of an exclusive distribution and supply agreement with Hikma Pharmaceuticals LLC for Basilea's broad-spectrum antibiotic Zevtera^® (ceftobiprole medocaril)¹ for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Under the terms of the agreement, Hikma will have the exclusive right to register, distribute and market Zevtera^® across the MENA region. Basilea's European regulatory dossier will be the basis for regulatory filings in MENA countries. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

David Veitch, Basilea's Chief Commercial Officer, stated: "We are very pleased to further expand the commercial availability of Zevtera through the partnership with Hikma, a leading pharmaceutical company in the Middle East and North Africa region. About Zevtera^® (ceftobiprole medocaril)

Zevtera^®/Mabelio^® (European trade names of ceftobiprole, depending on the country) is a new generation broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic with bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria associated with pneumonia, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and susceptible Pseudomonas spp.¹
