Bulgaria CPI Remains Flat In August

(RTTNews) - Bulgaria's consumer price inflation showed no variations in August after falling in the previous month, figures from the National Statistical Institute showed Monday.

The consumer price index remained flat in August, following a 0.2 percent drop in June. In May, prices had risen 0.4 percent.

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages edged up 0.1 percent annually in August and that for clothing and footwear grew by 3.6 percent. Meanwhile, transport costs plunged 8.2 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices also remained unchanged in August after a 0.2 percent decline in the preceding month.

The EU measure of inflation, or HICP dropped 0.8 percent in August from a year ago, but slower than prior month's 1.0 percent fall. Month-on-month, the HICP, edged up 0.1 percent in August, slightly slower than the 0.2 percent rise in July.
